Stormwater Treatment
Stormwater treatment requires the utmost environmental sensitivity. Designs for treatment systems also face engineering challenges due to wide-ranging flow rates. The Amber Group is experienced in product testing and development, along with feed equipment design and installation, to meet the myriad challenges of these applications.
Untreated storm water runoff from construction sites is known to have a significant impact on surface water quality. That impact comes from pollutants (nutrients like phosphorus, heavy metals and organic compounds) from silts picked up by runoff from the disturbed soils of construction sites.
The most cost-effective systems for treatment of storm water employ a combination of chemicals and separation equipment. The chemicals change the physical characteristics of the silt particles so that the equipment can more efficiently remove those particles. The right chemical treatment will not only improve treated water quality, but will also minimize the size and, therefore, the cost of the separation equipment.
TAG’s stormwater treatment line provides a unique solution for the chemical requirement of storm water treatment. Our products combine excellent separation process enhancement with superb environmental friendliness. Derived from natural products, these compounds are chemically enhanced so as to maximize their effectiveness in the coagulation and flocculation processes needed in sediment removal. Unlike other products used in these applications, water treated with our stormwater treatment products can be discharged without concern for impact on aquatic life forms, and any low-level residuals are rapidly converted into harmless byproducts like carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen (N2) and water.
By combining both coagulant and flocculant properties, our product line has the ability to produce extremely low turbidity (haziness) in the treated water and to create very dense solids that will settle much faster or be filtered out much more efficiently. It is this combination that allows our products to work so well in storm water treatment equipment.
In today’s world, it is critical to consider the environmental impact of a treatment process and its component chemicals.
