2012 Dust Control Season
We are almost half way through the dust season of 2012, and TAG has shipped product into 3 countries and 5 states over the past 3 months. With RoadTac, our flagship soil stabilizer, and our other diverse dust control agents including resin emulsions, wetting agents and more…we continue to offer our customers a reliable and economical answer to their fugitive dust mitigation needs.
Current projects include a California solar energy plant, road building in Africa, dust mitigation in oil fields in the Northern US, and more.
Introducing HaulTac
Through the years our customers have expressed their difficulties in treating haul roads. From labor intensive labor constant watering to product failures, TAG has addressed this need with its new product Haultac. HaulTac is a custom blend of resin emulsions and surfactants designed to address the most severe haul road applications. The dust from a haul road causes safety hazards by creating low visibility for operators and great health hazards for all workers due to PM10 & PM2.5 emissions. While watering is still the most popular treatment for haul road dust, it is only a short-term solution for a long-term problem.
Environmental Connection Article on TAG - IECA Member Spotlight
TAG Chemical was featured in April's edition of Environmental Connection, a magazine published by the International Erosion Control Association. The International Erosion Control Association (IECA) is a non-profit, member organization that provides education, resource information and business opportunities for professionals in the erosion and sediment control industry. Environmental Dewatering Projects
TAG continues to support our customer and colleagues at JND Thomas Company with their polymer needs. JND was tasked with cleaning private lagoons on a golf course in Columbia, Maryland. The project includes dredging, dewatering, and providing a haulway for the dried sludge to be removed. The project will guarantee the affluent turbidity of the water to be under 10 NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units) and the dry content of the cake solids to be in excess of 40%. TAG identified an all-organic NSF approved (potable drinking water certification) coagulant emulsion to aid the mechanical dewatering process.
JND Thomas Company, Inc. (www.jndthomas.com) is a California based company with offices in Riverdale, CA, and Daytona Beach, Florida providing mobile dredging and mechanical dewatering services throughout the continental US. JND specializes in water borne environmental and commercial remediation requiring minimal set-up space and high volume output under stringent return water quality standards. Capabilities include 1) Inland Water Dredging - Restoring channels, marinas, lakes and basins to original depths with minimal boating disruption while pumping spoils to any required distance. Dredges are equipped with GPS positioning systems to verify and document the efficient removal of sediments, 2) Mechanical Dewatering - Separation of dredged spoils using high volume clarification equipment while minimizing turbidity in a wide range of materials including beach sands, mine tailings, organic food wastes and biosolids, 3) Long Reach Excavating - Increased reach capabilities from a mobile fleet of tracked excavators capable of operating from shore or floating barge, and 4) Waste Dredging & Disposal - Restoring sediment basins with care not to disturb the original integrity of natural earthen bottoms or synthetic liners.

RoadTac Soil Binder Exceeds Performance Expectations
The summer of 2009 brought upon extreme challenges to the marketplace. With an unforgiving economy and State/County/City budget restraints, meeting the needs of our customers under extreme economical pressures became a priority. In order to maximize our customer’s investment, RoadTac needed to perform longer and require lower application rates than other products on the market.
Developed over 2 years ago, RoadTac is a premium quality co-polymer designed for maximum soil binding strength with added cohesive agents for flexibility. Crusting agents typically will sit on top of the soil and become brittle after time, thereby cracking over time and allowing for fugitive dust to once again become airborne. RoadTac was developed to penetrate the surface and flex with the natural tendencies of the soil during traffic and weather.

All Natural Bio-Based Dust Suppressants Developed for Environmentally Sensitive Applications
The Amber Group, LLC announces a launch of all-natural 100% agriculturally derived dust suppressants. The functional constituents of these products is derived from grain in the production of naturally-sourced biodeisel. The development of these products follows TAG’s mission to introduce environmentally-friendly products that allow for worry free application and depend upon renewable resources. With ever increasing stringent air and water quality regulations being mandated throughout the U.S., TAG has designed a product line that far exceeds any minimum requirements. The environmental impact of the base materials of these products has been extensively studied and tested. Not only has the USDA approved the raw materials of these products as ingredients in organic foods (7CFR 205.605), all of the materials are being used in food, drug and personal care products. For food uses, the component is listed by the FDA as “Generally Recognized as Safe” (GRAS) as a multi-purpose food additive (21CFR 182.1320); among many other foods, it can be found in marshmallows, candy, fudge and baked goods. Studies indicate these materials present no ingestion hazards to animals. Aquatic toxicity studies have shown it to be safe to various species of fish at levels in excess of 5,000 mg/l. Coupled with extreme eco-friendly traits, these bio-based dust suppressants can be used in wide variety of applications including construction sites, unpaved roads, wineries, dairies, horse arenas, and more.

Creating Solutions for the Concrete Grinding Industry
In 2005, TAG was approached by major concrete companies in California to address the new environmental laws passed by the State regulating the disposal of concrete grinding waste. TAG took on the challenge and developed several chemical enhancement programs for the separation of the concrete and water, including both precipitation and centrifuging. The constant changing variables of the concrete properties and solids created a challenge in the chemical program, ultimately leading to TAG’s development of several proprietary blends of dry and liquid products used by the top concrete cutting companies in the United States.
